Multiple departments fight fire in Barnesville
BARNESVILLE — Multiple fire departments were called to a structure fire on Barnesville-Bethesda Road on Wednesday evening and quickly extinguished the flames.
Barnesville Fire Department, Bethesda Fire Department, Somerton Volunteer Fire Department, Barnesville Police Department and Belmont County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, where flames threatened a house in the midst of a renovation.
Barnesville Fire Chief Tim Hall said his department was contacted to report to a structure fire and, once responders arrived, they discovered that the fire was located in the home’s attic.
He added that the residents who own the property have been remodeling the structure and were working on it when sparks from a grinder got into the ceiling and caught the attic on fire.
According to Hall, the fire started in the back of the attic and spread to the front.
Hall said no injuries resulted, and he believes that the house received minimal damage.
