PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – A protest over a reported visit by members of the Department of Government Efficiency to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service offices in Parkersburg is underway despite snow and cold temperatures.

Well over 100 people gathered in Bicentennial Park not far from the Fiscal Service office off Market Street beside the Wood County Courthouse. From there they walked to the office.

The ACLU of West Virginia organized the peaceful protest in opposition to representatives of DOGE, the initiative overseen by President Donald Trump’s adviser Elon Musk to find and eliminate wasteful government spending.

National media reports indicate the DOGE representatives were coming to Parkersburg to access a central government accounting system.
