HOLLOWAY — A large house fire in Holloway prompted several fire departments to respond to the call to help deliver more water.

No injuries were reported.

The blaze broke out at 6:04 a.m. Monday at 520 Ashton St. The Holloway Volunteer Fire Department and Flushing VFD were initially dispatched to the scene.

Lafferty and Moorefield VFDs were soon called to assist. Freeport VFD, Cumberland Trail Fire District, Barnesville Fire and EMS, Belmont Volunteer Fire Department, Morristown Volunteer Fire Department, Wolfhurst VFD and Moorefield Township Fire Department also responded as part of the activation of the Belmont County Tanker Task Force to provide additional water at the scene.

The task force cleared the scene at 8:22 a.m., while Lafferty VFD cleared at 8:30 a.m.

The Holloway VFD requested the task force to help supply additional water on the fire ground. Four tankers, two engines and a pump utility trailer were on the scene for the water supply.

The fire was contained to one house, according to Lafferty Fire Chief Dustin Hudak, but the house is a total loss. Hudak said it was almost burned to the ground when Lafferty VFD left.

He said he doesn’t believe any injuries resulted from the blaze. He also said he thought the home was occupied, but he was not certain. He was unsure of the cause of the fire but said a representative of the Ohio State Fire Marshal had arrived on scene to investigate.
