SHADYSIDE — Shadyside Healthcare and Rehabilitation will have an Easter brunch and egg hunt Friday where children can look for eggs, play games, eat food and listen to music.

The event will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the healthcare and rehabilitation center located at 60583 Ohio 7.

After residents help stuff Easter eggs with candy and trinkets, staff will hide the eggs outside in the courtyard for children. There will also be a raffle where people can come in and participate by putting a number in and seeing if theirs gets pulled for the prize.

This is a free event where people can enjoy food, such as Belgian waffles, sausage links, donuts, juice and chocolate milk, games, such as pin the tail on the bunny, ring toss, limbo with bunnies holding the stick and coloring activities and music.

Shadyside Healthcare and Rehabilitation has put this event on in the past and admissions director Kelli Gianangeli said the center is trying to promote the facility, do more marketing and give back to the “wonderful” community.

The Easter Bunny will be at the event, and children will be able to get photos with it if they would like to.

Gianangeli is hoping everybody is happy, including staff, residents and participants and the event has a good turnout.

She said the patients enjoy seeing the children and the activity and people coming in from the outside, so they are not seeing the same people day in and out. Gianangeli added the community gets to see how the employees connect with residents.

“We’re like a big family,” she said. “It’s a fun event to see the little kids have fun and the smiles on the residents’ faces, the happiness. It’s spring, like new beginnings.”
