LARRY E. HELMS

Larry was a graduate of Bellaire High School and then served in the US Army where he met his wife, Lilly Josephine, while based in Kentucky.

He retired from American Electric Power and began his call to ministry as a pastor to Neffs Methodist, Old Wegee Methodist, and the former New Hope Methodist Churches where he led his congregation faithfully and will be so missed by them.

Larry is preceded in death by his son Timothy Eugene, daughter, Tina Jo, and grandson Seth Hunter Sweeney.

Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years Josephine, his children, Larry (Peggy) Helms of Wheeling, West Virginia, Gina (Russel) Sweeney of Climax, North Carolina, six grandchildren, Ashley (David) Creighton, Russel (Stephanie) Sweeney, Kim (Chris) Phillips, Chelsea (Logan) Kinkade, Rachael (Jason) Perry, Hannah Sweeney and 16 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville and again on Monday from 12 to 1 p.m. with funeral service at 1 p.m. with Chuck Mehl and Missy Duffy officiating. Burial will follow at Glencoe Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Neffs Methodist or Old Wegee Methodist churches or a charity of your choice.
