REBECCA TOMICH
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, friend, and overall exceptional human being, Rebecca Jean Tomich.
After a 3-year battle with cancer, Rebecca passed peacefully at Liza’s Place surrounded by family on November 6th, 2024.
Rebecca was born on April 11, 1947, and raised in the Ohio Valley. She attended Shadyside schools and later graduated from Ohio University with a degree in elementary education. Rebecca loved children, was passionate about her career as an elementary school teacher. Rebecca also found great joy raising 4 daughters; teaching them to appreciate the joys of the simple life on the farm, as well as the thrill of travel and adventure. Rebecca’s adventurous spirit led her on many journeys spanning the world from the Alaskan wilderness to Europe and everywhere in between; sampling the best coffees and eating dessert first all along her travels. Rebecca spread her sunshine and humor with all those she met and didn’t hesitate to burst into spontaneous song. Rebecca’s warrior spirit and her appetite for adventure never faded, but her most treasured time was spent with her family and close friends. She embodied integrity, courage, strength, humility, with a healthy dose of sass.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband Matthew, parents Charles and Clara Berry, her siblings, Charles Berry, Candy Lynn Berry and Bonnie (Berry) Ray, and her daughter Rachael Jean Tomich. She is mourned by her sisters Bernadette Edwards (Byron) of Claysville, PA, Cathy Perko (Jeffrey) of Bellaire, OH, daughters Julianne Tomich (Nick) of Homer, AK, Megan Tomich (Peter) of Midland, MI, Katherine Khamsoucksaly of Shadyside, OH, 8 grandchildren Veda, Brycen, Elio, Isabella, Josephine, Elijah, Emilia, and Xelia, and many nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
Per Rebecca’s request a visitation followed by memorial (without viewing) will be entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio on November 10, 2024, from 11am-1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Centerville Senior Center.
