STEVE KOUCOUMARIS

Steve J. Koucoumaris, 96 of Martins Ferry passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 21, 1928, in Martins Ferry the first of his family to be born in the United States to the late John N. and Sophia (Grelles) Koucoumaris.

Steve was retired after 37 years of work from the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, served as the past President of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life-Giving Fountain, a member of the former V.F.W. of Martins Ferry and was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving his country in the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nick J. Koucoumaris.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Marlene (Sabic) Koucoumaris, sons, John S. (Mary) of Colerain, and Lee S. (Joelle) of McMurray, PA, granddaughters, Sophia (Taylor Fogle) Koucoumaris, Helen (Shane Krob) Koucoumaris and Olivia Koucoumaris, many nieces and nephews complete his family.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 2-8pm at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut Street, Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Trisagion Service will be at 7pm at the funeral home. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 16 from 10 till time of the Funeral Liturgy at 11am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life-Giving Fountain, 316 N. 5th St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors presented by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 12 noon.
