EDWARD BLOMQUIST
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward J. Blomquist, who left us on February 12, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on December 5, 1951, in Minneapolis, MN, Ed lived a life full of service, dedication, and passion for the things he loved. Ed began his career at IBM, where he contributed his skills and expertise before answering the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed at Walter Reed Medical Center. His dedication to excellence and service defined both his professional and military careers. Beyond his work, Ed was an avid sports enthusiast, always cheering for the Minnesota Vikings and Twins with unwavering loyalty. His love for baseball and the friendships he built along the way brought him great joy.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marie and Lawrence Blomquist, as well as his twin brother, John Blomquist. He is survived by his devoted siblings: Janet Condon of Minneapolis, MN; Gary Blomquist of Austin, TX; and Joyce Hanson (spouse Gary) of Brick, NJ. He is also survived by his children, David Blomquist of St. Clairsville, OH, and Molly Blomquist of Panama City Beach, FL.
As per Ed’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no formal services or viewing will be held. Family and friends may pay their respects privately. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory can be made to the American Red Cross, supporting veterans.
A heartfelt thank you to his incredible siblings, Gary and Joyce, who always stood by his side. Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Ed. Skol Vikings!
