ROBERT KOPYAR
Robert E. Kopyar, 93, of Bellaire passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
Born on August 6, 1931, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Florian and Elizabeth Robusky Kopyar.
Robert proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, demonstrating the same commitment and dedication that would characterize his later endeavors. After his military service, he returned to Ohio, where he began a long and fulfilling career where he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating Kopyar’s Barber Shop, a beloved local establishment that reflected his warm and personable nature and later he began a long and fulfilling career with Ohio Edison.
A true jack of all trades, Robert was known for his ability to tackle any project with skill and creativity. His hands-on approach and problem-solving mindset were admired by all who knew him. Beyond his work, he was celebrated for his warm and likable personality, always ready with a smile and a kind word for everyone he met.
Robert was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellaire, where his faith provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life. He was also a loving husband, cherishing 70 years of marriage before being preceded in death by his beloved wife.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marilyn Marling Kopyar on February 19, 2023, as well as siblings; Wilma Gilham, Betty Kopyar, Fred Kopyar, Edward Kopyar and Bill Kopyar.
Survivors include his children; Kelly (Darlene) Kopyar of Rayland Ohio, Kathy (Rob) Willis of Wheeling, West Virginia, grandchildren; Luke (Stef) Kopyar, Ally (Hank) Longworth and Cody (Jenna) Willis, as well as great-grandchildren; Leo, Silas, Sawyer, Watson and Shiloh as well as brothers Bernie Kopyar and Tom Kopyar.
Services will be announced in the Spring and have been entrusted to Bauknecht- Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street Bellaire Ohio 43906. Bob will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in Belmont Memorial Cemetery, St. Clairsville Ohio.
