CECIL NICOLA
Cecil “Nick” Michael Nicola, born on April 24, 1950, in Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Bellaire, Ohio, at the age of 74.
Nick dedicated 42 years of his life to Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, where he worked as a crane operator. His commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends. Beyond his professional life, Nick was a passionate sports enthusiast. He shared his love for sports through coaching at St. John’s, inspiring many young athletes with his knowledge.
Nick was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Cecil and Joreen Nicola, and his brother-in-law, Stephen Kosky. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gail Nicola, and their children: Luke (Stephanie) Kopyar, Mick Nicola, and Erin (Michael) Nicola-Hepburn. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Leo Kopyar, Journey Jo Nicola, Mia Mae, Silas, Faye, and Veda Hepburn.
Nick is also survived by his brother, Ron Nicola, and sister, Sharlene (Dean) Conaway, along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael (Pearl) Kosky, Gary (Maggie) Kosky, David Kosky, Mark Kosky, Alexis (Joe) Skoff, and Kristy Kosky. He will be fondly remembered by several beloved nieces and nephews, as well as a dear friend, Nancy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio. A Funeral Mass will be held on March 25, 2025, at 10 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio.
