It’s Football Season
Dear Editor,
This is the season when men lose their minds. This is the fall football season when the bodies, minds, passions, and paychecks of men get sucked up into that great expanding autumn void where nothing else matters but the kickoff and the next four hours of the game.
With high school, college, and professional games, virtually every day of the week there is a game to look forward to at almost any time.
One streaming company tells people they can watch every game every Sunday with their service.
Folks, that would take the entire waking day, but that is what the entertainment industry is asking working men, fathers, citizens, homeowners, every man on the block to do.
During this season men are mere shadows of themselves. They are so distracted from reality that they lose sight of spouses, children, budgets, and certainly any thought of citizenship responsibilities, which are already all but gone during the other three seasons of the year.
Don’t you think we’ve gone a little too far by holding to all this sports foolishness when our republic is going down the tubes?
Can’t we do better for ourselves and our families?
