Ferry softball, St. C. baseball stay perfect

MORRISTOWN — Martins Ferry struck early and often en route to a mercy-rule victory at Union Local Wednesday, 16-3.

The Purple Riders received impressive offensive production from junior Danielle Lude, who had a triple, double and three RBI.

Taylor Bell drove in four and had a singler. Ella McFarland added two singles and a pair of RBI.

Avery Hughes had a double and two RBI.

Union Local received a solo home run from Lauren Miller, while Laken Vinskovich had a triple, single and drove in a run.

Cambridge 12,

St. Clairsville 0

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils’ struggles continued Wednesday when they fell in five innings to Cambridge.

Abby Mann was the winner in the circle for the Bobcats with seven strikeouts. She also had two singles.

St. Clairsville’s lone hit was a single by senior Abby Salisbury.

Harrison Central 9,

Beaver Local 0

ROGERS — Invading Harrison Central continued its hot play by blanking the Beavers.

Emma Skinner earned another win in the circle.

Maddy Butler had a double, single and RBI, while Isabell Yeager had a trio of singles and a quartet of RBI.

Lizzy Clelland had a double and two RBI. Rylee Smith had two singles, a double and drove in a run.

Shadyside 10, Bridgeport 0

SHADYSIDE — The Tigers bounced back from their first loss of the season by mercy ruling invading Bridgeport on Wednesday.

Taylor Fulton was sharp in the circle with a one hitter. She fanned seven. She also had a triple and two RBI.

Senior Gentry Brown and classmate Mary Smith each had a home run. Smith also had a single and two RBI. Maddy Violet had two triples, while Macy Hendershot had a double and a RBI. Rylee Fulton and Bella Honeywell each drove in a run with a single.

Barnesville 8,

Monroe Central 2

BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks picked up another win Wednesday afternoon by toppling the invading Seminoles.

Barnesville’s Abigail Johnson was the winning pitcher.

Madelynn Tyson provided a bulk of the offense with a double, triple and RBI. Maddie Schaffer had two doubles and a single. Lilly Welch and Payton Dudzik drove in a run with a single.

Kynzi Bishop and Jauna McElroy each had two singles.

BASEBALL

River 13, Shadyside 0

SHADYSIDE — Invading River pitched its second shutout in three days against Shadyside Tuesday at Fleming Field.

However, unlike Monday’s dramatic 1-0 victory, the Pilots exploded offensively for 10 hits and the 13 runs.

Brody Lollathin had two doubles and three RBI, while sophomore Peyton Blue had a double, single and drove in four. Lucas Dennis had two RBI and Max Castro, who was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts, had a single and drove in three.

Shadyside’s lone hit was a single by Cole Micker.

St. Clairsville 9,

Cambridge 8

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils got to 6-0 by pushing across three runs in the home half of the seventh to edge the Bobcats, 9-8 Wednesday afternoon.

Brody Saunders drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Red Devils the win.

Mason Myers, who was the third Red Devils’ pitcher in the game, qualified to the win. At the plate, he had two singles, a double and two RBI.

Junior Hunter Hoffman had two singles and two RBI, while Mickey Balgo had a single and two RBI. Zach Vickers also singled home a run.

Union Local 11,

Martins Ferry 10

MORRISTOWN — Union Local found itself in another wild one Wednesday afternoon, but this time the Jets came out on top.

Union Local pushed five across in the bottom of the sixth and then held Ferry in the seventh for the win.

Logan Hess, who came on in relief, was the winner on the mound. He also had a double, single and drove in two.

Peyton Cauby had a big day at the dish, coming up a home run short of the cycle with four RBI. Drake Ault, Alex Moore and Bryley Jennewein all drove in a run with a single.

Martins Ferry was led by senior Connor Probst who had a home run, double, two singles and drove in two runs. Baron Lucey had a double, triple and two RBI. Joe Green produced a double, single and drove in a run, while Alex Reese doubled home a run.

Harrison Central 21,

Beaver Local 4

CADIZ – Harrison Central spotted Beaver Local three runs and promptly answered with a 10 spot before going on for the five-inning rout of the Beavers.

Tucker Snyder had a huge day at the plate for the Huskies with a triple, double, single and he drove in six.

Kaden Jurosko had a single and two RBI, while senior Tre Rex had a double, single and drove in three.

Colten Rutter got the pitching win with three strikeouts.

Barnesville 4, Caldwell 1

CALDWELL – Barnesville received brilliant pitching from freshman Dylan Blon en route to picking up a road win at Caldwell.

Blon, making his first varsity start, struck out four and walked only two, while scattering two hits in a masterpiece.

Camden Carpenter and Taison Starr each had a RBI single, while senior C.J. Hannahs singled twice.
