St. Clairsville boys soccer falls to host Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE — Cole Bowers scored twice and Hayden Hicks and Landon Bowers each had a goal and two assists as Steubenville (6-1-3) defeated visiting St. Clairsville, 5-1, in boys’ high school soccer action inside Harding Stadium.

Luke Dinovo had a goal and assist for Big Red.

Robby Lucas made two saves.

Jonathan Verardi scored for the Red Devils off an assist from Carson Hendershot. Talan Rice had nine saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Clairsville Claims Buckeye 8

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Red Devils won the Buckeye 8 on Thursday with an 11-0 victory over East Liverpool.

Ashlynn Lednik led the way for St. C., scoring four goals and handing out an assist. Elizabeth Morgan scored three goals with two assists, and Emma Gasber scored two goals with on assist.

Olivia McKeever and Isabella Yeager also scored. McKeever had two assists, Yeager one.

Kaylee Shafer dished two assists, with Jolen Brannan and Maxim Lussier each tallying one.

GOLF

Panthers Win Head-To-Head

RAYLAND — Buckeye Local topped Edison Thursday at Bec-Wood Hills Golf Course, picking up a victory over the Wildcats by eight strokes, 166-174.

Two Panthers shared medalist honors– Adam Blackwell and Dugan Dubrovich. Both carded 40’s.

Kamden Kinyo shot a 42 and Dom Kempton carded a 44 for Buckeye.

Edison was led by Brady Haunt who carded a 42.

VOLLEYBALL

Union Local Spikes Bellaire

MORRISTOWN — The Jets soared past the Big Reds inside the ‘House of Champions’ by scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-18.

Delaney Butler led Union Local with 16 assists and 11 digs. Alayna Logan handed out a dozen assists and Myah Martin charted 11 digs. Ameera Saunders recorded nine kills and Emma Yager added eight.

Shadyside Falls To Shenandoah

SARAHSVILLE — The Tigers fell on the road Thursday, swept by the Zeps 25-16, 25-14, 25-16.

Giovanna Hines led Shadyside in kills, tallying nine. Ali Weatherson passed out a team-high 11 assists along with 10 digs. Aubrey Nippert had 11 digs to lead the Tigers. Josey Greenwood and Adrianna Hines each had two aces.

Indian Creek Tames Huskies

WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek needed four sets to defeat Harrison Central on Thursday, defending their home court in a 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-18 victory.

Creek was led by Car Nadeborne, who dominated at the net with 13 kills and seven blocks. Brooke Crites tallied 18 assists, five more than Gabby Taylor, while Kaite Cottis and Emma Westfall each had two aces. Cottis had nine kills, Westfall six.
