Wheeling University to hold Stuff the Truck event

WHEELING — At Wheeling University, our mission is Life, Leadership, and Service with and Among Others. On Saturday, the Wheeling Athletics Department is giving back to local families with a “Stuff the Truck” event. All fans in attendance are encouraged to bring canned goods and other non-perishable food items as we collect donations for Catholic Charities, to help families in need here in Wheeling.

Beginning at 2 PM, there will be a box truck, presented by Aladdin Campus Dining, parked in the Alma Grace McDonough Center Parking lot. Throughout the day, fans are encouraged to stop by with canned food or non-perishable food items and make their donation. All donations collected will be placed in the back of the truck, as we try to stuff the truck completely full. Fans can donate anytime from 2 PM until the end of the game, with donation takers stationed at the truck the entire time. At the conclusion of the game, the truck will then be shut down and on Monday, all donations received will be taken to Catholic Charities of West Virginia, located here in Wheeling. Fans can also donate directly to Catholic Charities, using the QR Code that will be at the donation booth.

Catholic Charities of West Virginia serves all 55 counties throughout the state with 13 different locations, with two of those being in Wheeling. Their mission is Guided by God’s Love, they strive to collaborate with community partners, parishes, and families to provide caring and compassionate services to people in need and work towards lasting and meaningful change. They are the largest private provider of social services in West Virginia.

Food items and monetary donations will be accepted on site at the Stuff the Truck Event in the Alma Grace McDonough Center Parking lot.
