Monroe Central takes down Barnesville

WOODSFIELD — Monroe Central returned home to a big win Monday, defeating Barnesville 57-43 to move to 2-2 on the year.

Jacey English (19 points, six rebounds, five assists) and Mayzie Emery (15 points) led the Seminoles in the victory, their 13th straight over the Shamrocks. The pair each made four 3-pointers.

Madelynn Tyson led Barnesville with 10 points.

Monroe Central led 33-16 at halftime, with Barnesville outscoring the Seminoles 27-24 in the second half.

The ‘Noles hit the road again for their next game Wednesday against Shenandoah. Barnesville (0-3) will return home to face Buckeye Trail on Wednesday.

Indian Creek 56,

Harrison Central 19

WINTERSVILLE — The Indian Creek girls’ basketball team took control against Harrison Central in the second quarter, and the Redskins never looked back against their Buckeye 8 rivals.

Indian Creek led by just two points at the end of the first, however, the Red-and-Gold outscored the Huskies 46-9 in the final three quarters to pull away for a victory Monday night on Coach D Court.

Three players scored in double digits to lead the way for the home team. Senior standout point guard McKenna Scott tallied a game-high 14 points, Kaydence Walker collected 12 and Riley Sadler recorded 10.

Lauren Doane delivered a team-high seven points to lead the way for the girls from Harrison County, while Mikayla Pelegreen produced five.

Cambridge 64, St. Clairsville 35

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Red Devils dropped a home game to the Bobcats on Monday.

Cami Moore scored 14 to lead Cambridge.

For St. Clairsville, Anna Kain scored a game-high 15, followed by Kiya Kyer with six points.

The Red Devils (0-3) will look to tally their first win on the road Thursday at Bellaire.

Wheeling Park Sweeps Brooke

Boys

WHEELING — Kaden Miller rolled a 424 series to lead the Patriots past the Bruins 2,234 to 1,920 at Dirty Dog Lanes. He had games of 209 and 215. Sam Metzner had a 216.

Girls

Wheeling Park 1,464, Brooke 1,106

Shelby McKee paced the Patriots with a 261 series and Sarah Seivertson added a 249.

The Bruins were led by Kaylee Tuttle with a 289 series.
