UL pick up road win over Zanesville, 59-49

ZANESVILLE — Union Local picked up a huge girls basketball road win Monday night, 59-49, over Zanesville.

Ella Pietranton led the way with 21 points for the Jets. Laken Vinskovich added 15 and Delaney Butler had 11. Ameera Saunders chipped in eight.

Bridgeport 34,

Clay-Battelle 29

BRIDGEPORT — The Bulldogs won their second straight as Hanna Brewer scored 11 points. Jasmine Gonzalez added eight and Kaylee Baxter six.

Bellaire 44, Barnesville 38

BARNESVILLE — Zara Harveth netted 22 points — 18 in the second half — as the Big Reds slipped past the host Shamrocks.

Eliana Mason added 12 for Bellaire.

Barnesville was led by Lydia Welch with 14, which was one more than Maddy Tyson.

River 51, Frontier 41

BEAVERTON — Kaylee Hagan scored 17 points and Carleigh Trifonoff added 14 as the Pilots navigated past the host Cougars. The duo evenly split eight treys.

Valley 56, Parkersburg

Catholic 34

PARKERSBURG — The Lumberjills received 18 points from Michaela Miller. Laken Dawson scored 11 and Kynnedi Dallison 10.

Buckeye Local 56, Brooke 30

WELLSBURG — In a rematch of young teams that have had their fair share of struggles, the Panthers took control early and made it a season sweep of the Bruins inside the Brooke Wellness Center.

Buckeye Local’s Maddy Roset and Sammi Westfall each netted 14 points to tie for the game-high. Alyssa Dailey added nine and Brooke Driscoll eight.

For the Bruins, Rylyn Bowman netted 12 points, six in each half, while Marionna DiPaolo netted eight.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cameron 71, Hundred 65

HUNDRED — Mason Scott netted 24 points as the Dragons completed a two-game regular season sweep of the Hornets. Cuyler McCauley added 14 points and Colin Magers had 12.

Trey Huggins scored 21 for Hundred. Brayden Bartrug and Colt Sandy had 18 each.

Brooke, John Marshall Split

Boys

The Bruins defeated the Monarchs 1,951 to 1,279 as Darian Hilton rolled a 212 game and a 375 series. Dawson Paugh added a 203 and 339. Wyatt Taylor had games of 202 and 182 for John Marshall. He finished with a 384 series.

Girls

The Monarchs rolled to a 1,626 to 1,377 victory as Ash Barlip had a 94 game and 331 series. Shelby Crow had a 152 game and 287 series. Kaylee Tuttle rolled a 312 series with games of 160 and 152.

Wheeling Central 68, Charleston Catholic 55

CHARLESTON — Eli Sancomb pumped in 24 points, Max Olejasz added 18, Tyler Dean 12 and Troy Anthony 11 as the Maroon Knights collected a huge road win in a battle of West Virginia Class AA state-ranked squads.

Wheeling Central was No. 1 and Charleston Catholic No. 5.

The Maroon Knights host Fort Frye Tuesday.

CHARLESTON — Kaitlyn Blake continued her torrid scoring with 29 points as the No. 1 ranked Maroon Knights (12-1) topped the Irish in a battle of West Virginia Class AA squads. Blake had nine field goals and went 11 of 13 from the foul line. She netted 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Seneca Heller chipped in 13 points and Erin Maxwell added 10.

Wheeling Central visits Williamstown on Wednesday.
