Barnesville dominates at Ohio Division III Sectional Tournament
BARNESVILLE — Barnesville continued its dominance in the Ohio Division III Sectional Wrestling Tournament Saturday inside the Green House. The Shamrocks had five champions in piling up 230 points and qualified another four for next week’s District Tournament inside the Wigwam at Coshocton High School.
A total of 32 individuals are headed to the district.
Collecting championships were Easton Stephen (106), Conner Wilson (113), Aydan Andrews (120), Colt Carpenter (138) and Ayden King (165).
Also qualifying were Austin Armstrong (190-2nd); Brayden Trigg (144-3rd); Hines Ford (175-3rd) and Christien Hannahs (215-3rd).
Martins Ferry, which placed third with 137 points, qualified six with champion Colton Nixon (126) heading up the group. Others are Richard Welshans (165-2nd); Tayson Palmer (215-2nd); Maddox Painter (113-3rd); Jase Mahoney (120-4th); and Keenan Lucey (138-4th).
Union Local, which was fourth with 135 points, and Buckeye Local, sixth at 123.5, both have five qualifiers.
The Jets are sending champions Gunnar Gossett (150) and Brody Perzanowski (175), along with Gavin Bolock (120-2nd); Gamble Gossett (126-2nd) and Max Dubiel (106-3rd).
The Panthers will be represented by Nathan Dentz (106-4th); Aiden Dentz (132-2nd); Shawn Jordan (113-4th); Chase Milton (120-3rd) and Gavin Edgell (150-4th).
Monroe Central has two qualifiers in Micah Aishman (132-4th) and Owen Howeard (165-4th); while Toronto’s Heath Thomas (285-2nd) and Drake Bouscher (157-3rd), along with Shadyside’s Jaycob Trigg (132-3rd) all punched their tickets.
More D-III Wrestlers Punch Tickets to District
MAGNOLIA — Ten local wrestlers earned district berths at the D-III Sandy Valley sectional.
Harrison Central’s Knox McKibben (215) and Landen Thomas (185) were champs, as won Bridgeport’s Ax’zavior Santana (138).
The Huskies’ Andrew Alberts (106-3rd) also qualified, as did the Bulldogs’ Robert Weekley (120-2nd); and the Bellaire trio of Alex Ney (138-2nd); Grant Vasey (120-3rd) and Braylong Leiffer (157-3rd).
Steubenville Catholic’s Roman Bowers (106) and Chris Hermann (132) both placed fourth.
Division II
STEUBENVILLE — Big Red is sending 12 individuals to the district meet at Claymont High School after piling up 229 points to slip past West Holmes (210) inside the Crimson Center Saturday in sectional action.
Cooper Smith (144), Brody Saccoccia (157) and Beau Hudson (285) all won titles, while Kasyn Berkey (120), Dorian Haddad (126), Ethan Llewellyn (165), Landon Crosier 9175) and Landyn babel (215) all finished second.
Placing third were Cole Harvey (113) and Charlie Abbott (150), while Landon Drazic (138) and Nolan Blackburn (190) were both fourth.
Indian Creek is sending three to the district. They are Gavin Pownall (165-3rd) and Ethan Starr (132) and Ian Starkey (150) who finished fourth.
St. Clairsville qualified Carson Bishop (113) and Luke Marling (175). They were both fourth.
At CLAYMONT, Edison’s Nolan Haught (138-3rd) was the lone qualifier.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Tyson Pastor led three Red Devils in double figures with 21 points as Brady Schafer added 18 and Griffin Straub had 13 as they roared past the Panthers on John Jenkins Court.
Xavier Eastham led Buckeye Local with 10 points.
St. Clairsville will now face No. 11 Barnesville on Wednesday at the ECO Center.

MORRISTOWN — Dre Saunders went for 23 points and Logan Hess added 11 off the bench as the Jets soared past the Cardinals inside ‘The Hangar.’
Brody Gregor had 10 for Union Local. Bill Schmuacher finished with nine.
