Magnolia claims road victory across the river against the Pilots
HANNIBAL — The Magnolia Blue Eagles soared to a road victory over the River Pilots on Tuesday, 49-43, in boys’ basketball action inside the R.L. Potts Gymnasium.
Kingston Christen scored 20 points and Hunter Oates added 12 for Magnolia.
Peyton Blue scored 18 to lead River, followed by Lucas Dennis with eight.
Magnolia scored just three points in the first quarter as River took a 17-3 lead, but the visitors clawed back into the game, trailing 25-16 at halftime, and taking a 33-32 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Union Local 78, Shadyside 37
SHADYSIDE — Leading 23-14 after one quarter, the Jets turned it up a notch as they extended their lead to 47-20 at the half. Bill Schmuacher netted 12 of his 20 points in a 24-point second quarter.
Brandon Mehl, who buried half-a-dozen triples, led all scorers with 22 for Union Local. Dre Saunders added 18 and Brody Kerns eight.
Bryce Sloan, Ean Weatherson and Trenton Marling each had eight points for the Tigers.
Shadyside was outscored 16-1 in the fourth quarter.
Cameron 57, Madonna 54
CAMERON — Mason Scott netted 21 points and Colin Magers added 19 as Dragons slipped past the visiting Blue Dons.
Andre Crossland had 19 for Madonna.
Bridgeport 63, Beallsville 34
BEALLSVILLE — Coen Brinker scored 14 points and Jaki Threet added 11 as the Bulldogs completed their regular-season sweep of the Blue Devils.
Bridgeport played without leading scorer Jaleel Vincent.
Gabriel Eing and Jameson Bable each had 12 points for Beallsville. Jayson Ramsey added nine.
Indian Creek 51, Toronto 47
WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek earned their fourth win in their last five games Tuesday night at home on Coach D Court, fending off a rally from visiting Toronto for a 51-47 victory.
Creek led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter before the Red Knights rallied to within one in the fourth , but the lead never got away.
In addition to winning four out of five, the win moved Creek to 7-11 on the season after starting 0-6. It also gives the Redskins a season sweep of the Red Knights as they also won a close contest in Toronto last month.
The Redskins were led by 17 points from Caleb Bodo, who went 9 of 10 from the foul line. Mason Lester added 10 and Nicky Eddy nine for Creek.
The Red Knights got 17 from Austin Buchanan, while Landon Grimes netted 10.
Steubenville Catholic 43,
Oak Glen 32
STEUBENVILLE – Leading by two in the second quarter,Steubenville Catholic turned up the heat on Oak Glen, and the Golden Bears struggled to handle it enabling the Crusaders to get out and run en route to building an 11-point advantage at halftime on their way to a 43-32 victory Tuesday night inside the Mickey Barber Gymnasium.
Benji Rook recorded a game-high 13 points to lead the way offensively for the boys from Jefferson County, while Camden Bradley delivered 11 and Tommy Pergi produced 10.
Mason Kell collected a team-high seven points to lead the way for the Golden Bears, while Noah Willey tallied six.
