Shadyside dominates Wellsville

SHADYSIDE — Kaci Tsoras erupted for a season-high 31 points as Shadyside won a battle of Tigers over Wellsville, 60-27, in an OVAC WVU Medicine consolation round contest Thursday.

Tsoras, who outscored Wellsville by 4 points, had nine two-point field goals and four bonus bombs. Kamryn Parker also buried four trifectas for 12 points.

Giovanna Hines added eight as Shadyside led 21-0 after one quarter and was never threatened.

Beth Poppleriter had 23 points to lead Wellsville.

John Marshall 64, Shenandoah 44

SARAHSVILLE — The Monarchs (11-8) knocked down 13 three-point field goals in rolling past the host Zeps.

Rilee Storm connected on five bonus bombs en route to 21 points. She also collected seven rebounds. Kaylee White hit four treys and finished with 18 points and seven assists. Masyn Inclan scored nine points on a trio of triples.

John Marshall led 23-22 at the half and 41-37 after three quarters before going on a 23-7 scoring advantage in the final panel.

Martins Ferry 80, Barnesville 55

BARNESVILLE — The visiting Purple Riders (16-5) broke out to a 29-8 lead after one quarter and never looked back in their 25-point win over the Shamrocks.

Lindsey Best had a game-high 23 points, while Giana Chirpas added 16 and Lindse Sidon knocked down five treys for 15. Makayla Cole added seven points and Alivia Reese six.

Maddy Tyson was Barnesville’s lone twin digit scorer with 14. Aiva Leasure added nine and Becklee Oliver finished with eight.

Harrison Central 55, Edison 52

CADIZ — The top-seeded Huskies (16-6) bounced back from the OVAC WVU Medicine Class 4A semifinal setback to Indian Creek to claim third place over the visiting Wildcats.

Lauren Doane led Harrison Central with 14 points and nine rebounds. Mikayla Pelegreen added 14 points, one more than Kara Blackburn, who also charted four steals.

Monroe Central 42, Warren Local 38

VINCENT — The Seminoles (14-8) posted a narrow road win over the Warriors as Mayzie Emery scored 13 points and handed out three assists.

Jadyn Miller added 12 points for Monroe Central, while Brylee McFrederick had eight points and nine rebounds.

Mackenzie James-Maguire and Delaney Gates had 12 points each for Warren Local.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Magnolia 80, Trinity 47

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Kingston Christen blistered the nets for 31 points as the Blue Eagles flew past the Warriors, with 27 of those coming on nine bonus goals.

Dubale Greathouse added 21 and Hunter Oates 11.

Monroe Central 69, Martins Ferry 54

WOODSFIELD — The Seminoles completed their regular-season sweep of the visiting Purple Riders on Junior Winland Court.

Chance Allen poured in 26 points to lead Monroe Central. Tucker Howell added 19 and Caedyn Silva nine.

Maurice Barnett led Martins Ferry with 24 points, which included a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line. Alex Reese finished with 19 points.

Caldwell 57, River 38

HANNIBAL — The Pilots fell to Caldwell on Thursday as Carter Wheeldin scored 27 points for the visitors.

Dylan Scott added 12 for Caldwell, who led 41-24 at halftime.

The Pilots were paced by 17 points from Evan Longwell and 12 from Peyton Blue.

Clay-Battelle 47, Cameron 39

CAMERON — Preston Luzader scored 21 points and Cooper payton added 16 as the visiting Cee-Bees held off the Dragons.

Colin Magers led Cameron with 16 points. Mason Scott had 14.
