St. C snaps three-game losing streak
LISBON — St. Clairsville ended a three-game losing streak and gained a measure of revenge at the same time with Friday night’s 59-53 victory host Beaver Local in the OVAC WVU Medicine Class 4A Boys Basketball Championships third-place game.
Brady Schafer scored a game-best 25 points and Tyson Pastor as the Red Devils prepared for their Ohio Division V Sectional Tournament game on Feb. 22 against Buckeye Local. Tyson Pastor added 19.

Shadyside 47
SHADYSIDE — The Dragons (5-10) got back on the winning track with a road win over the Tigers.
Mason Scott’s 16 points led four Cameron players in double digits. Colin Magers added 12 points while Cuyler McCauley and Camden Frye added 11 each.
Ryan Collins had 13 for Shadyside. Ean Weatherson finished with 10, as did Wyatt Parr.
Magnolia 74,
Hundred 70
HUNDRED — Kingston Christen netted 26 points and Hunter Oates fired in 19 as the Blue Eagles slipped past the host Hornets. Darin Shimp added 13 and Dubale Greathouse 10.
Colt Sandy lit it up for 24 for Hundred. Jaxon Huggins and Trey Huggins evenly split 30.
The contest was knotted at 53-all heading into the fourth quarter. Christen had 12 of his points in that decisive quarter.
Southern 63,
Buckeye Local 58 (OT)
SALINEVILLE — Down 37-22, Southern scored 41 points in the final 12 minutes to complete a come from behind victory.
Freshman Braxton Sloan made two free throws with 23 seconds remaining to force overtime on his way to a triple double with 33 points, 11 rebounds and 13 steals. Senior Richie Sloan’s steal and layup tied the game with 39 seconds in overtime at 58-58, while senior Aaron Keoppel’s steal led to free throws with 33 seconds to give Southern the lead for good in OT.
Brooke 81,
Madonna 31
WELLSBURG — Brooke’s offense had quite the showing Friday night in OVAC consolation pool action.
The Bruins scored more than 20 points in three of four quarters to cruise to an impressive 81-31 victory over Madonna inside the Brooke Wellness Center.
Brooke led 22-8 after one and 45-14 at halftime, being in control start to finish.
The Bruins had five players finish in double figures. Grant Yost tallied 15 points and eight rebounds, Noah McMahon netted 14 points and four boards, Andrew Murdock recorded 12 points and Jameil McKennen and Pierce Ferrell each tallied 10 points.
For Madonna, Angelo DoBraska netted 10 points.
Weir 48,
Wheeling Park 41
WEIRTON — For the second time this season, Weir High was able to get a victory over Wheeling Park on its home court.
In a rematch of an early season game that needed overtime to decide a winner, the Red Riders collected a 48-41 victory in the rematch Friday night in OVAC Consolation Pool action.
Weir High got a team-high 17 points from Anthony Jeffers and 15 from Justin Kaczmarek.
Weir erased a 28-22 halftime deficit, out-scoring the Patriots 27-13 in the final 16 minutes.
Park got a game-high 20 points from Josh Huffman and 10 from Jay Bordas.
