Union Local blanks Coshocton in baseball
COSHOCTON – Union Local used strong pitching, double digit hits and flawless play in the field with an 8-0 shutout of homestanding Coshocton Friday night in high school baseball action.
The debuting Jets received a one-hit pitching performance as Braylon Akers came within an out of a complete game. He struck out nine, walked six and gave up just one single. He threw 122 pitches, of which 65 were strikes. He also helped his cause with an RBI single. Grayson Sink recorded the final out.
Peyton Causby was a home run shy of the cycle and drove in three runs for Union Local. Brody Gregor and Colby Carpenter each singled twice, while Kam Gordon doubled. Hayden Jenkins had a run-scoring base hit.

Union Local 21, East Liverpool 4
EAST LIVERPOOL – The Jets (3-3) made it back-to-back wins as a 12-run fifth inning sealed the deal against the Potters.
Allie Kellaway continued her power surge as she belted two home runs and drove in three runs as Union Local pounded out 20 base hits. Edyn McGary and winning pitcher Katie Stidd each singled twice and knocked in three runs. Ev Blakley singled and doubled to plate two runs. Khloe Gallagher had two RBI on a pair of singles. Myah Martin singled four times and drove in a run. Ella Pietraton singled thrice and knocked in a run.
Monroe Central 11, Cameron 1

WOODSFIELD – The Seminoles and Dragons split a twinbill as Jadyn Miller drove in three runs with a single and triple in the opener. Karlie Haslam singled twice, doubled and knocked in a run. Brylee McFrederick had two doubles and an RBI.
In the night cap, Lexi Bogard struck out 14 and scattered four hits for Cameron. Emma Francis had an RBI double and Baylee Long a run-scoring single.

Union Local 12, Buckeye Trail 11
MORRISTOWN – After falling short 24 hours earlier against Monroe Central, the Jets snuck past the visiting Warriors with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Trailing 11-10 after Buckeye Trail plated six runs in the top of the sixth, Martin led off with a single and Laken Vinskovich tripled her home. McGary drove Vinskovich in with what turned out to be the game-winner. In addition to her RBI triple, Vinskovich also singled twice.
Kellway hit a three-run homer and winning pitcher Stidd drove in three runs with two singles and a double.
Martin finished with three singles and McGary added an RBI double to her game-winning hit.
