Bridgeport Bulldogs blank Paden City, 24-0

BROOKSIDE — Jaki Threet was a one-man wrecking ball Wednesday as Bridgeport blanked visiting Paden City 24-0 in high school baseball action.

The junior threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts while also slugging a three-run homer and driving in five runs.

Carson Sauvageot singled three times and doubled to drive in four runs.Gage Drummond had three singles and an RBI while Avery Jackson also drove in three runs.

Cameron 12, Valley 2

CAMERON — The Dragons tuned up for Friday night’s OVAC Class 1A championship game with a five-inning win over the visiting Lumberjacks.

Billy Patterson earned the mound win, striking out four and walking three. Brody Smith singled thrice and knocked in a run. Zayde Long plated a pair of runs with a single and double. Wes Starcher belted a twor-un double.

Barnesville 9, Martins Ferry 0

MARTINS FERRY — Dylan Blon struck out nine and walked just one in a complete-game effort against the Purple Riders. He gave up four singles.

Caleb Powell singled twice to drive in three runs. Brayden Watters had a two-run triple and Max Miller doubled twice.

Indian Creek 2, Indian Valley 0

GNADENHUTTEN — The Redskins (11-1) warmed up for their OVAC Class 4A final on Saturday with a blanking of the host Braves.

Sy Barcalow, Max Lane and Gavin Pownall combined on a five-hit shutout.

Barcalow had an RBI single and Sylus Hycde singled in the other tally.

Shadyside 4, Monroe Central 2

SHADYSIDE — The Tigers scored twice in the first and two more times in the fifth to get past the visiting Seminoles on Fleming Field.

Trenton Marling had a two-run single for Shadyside. Cole Micker singled in a run.

Jacob Allen picked up the win in relief. He fanned four.

Buckeye Local 5, Bellaire 0

CONNORVILLE — Kaleb Stang went the distance on the mound with 11 strikeouts and two walks as the Panthers blanked the visiting Big Reads. He also singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.

River 10, Magnolia 0

HANNIBAL — The Pilots earned an abbreviated six-inning victory over the Blue Eagles on Wednesday.

River’s Easton Huntsman and Ty Nething each struck out three while splitting duties on the mound. They combined to allow one hit and walk none.

Huntsman also finished with two RBI, as did Trey Larrick.

River stole nine bases as a team. Magnolia committed five errors, making six of the Pilots’ 10 runs unearned.

Ethan Lipscomb had Magnolia’s lone knock.

Williamstown 7, Wheeling Central 3

WHEELING — The Maroon Knights dropped their home game against the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, a contest wedged in-between their OVAC semifinal game on Monday and OVAC championship appearance on Thursday.

Kade Koroneos tallied two hits for Central, while he, Jake Brown and Seth Cover each drove in one run.

Williamstown’s Wyatt Siley was a thorn in Central’s side, finishing with three hits, including a double, and three RBI. Williamstown scored four in the top of the seventh to break open a 3-3 tie.

SOFTBALL

Wheeling Central 6, Barnesville 4

BARNESVILLE — Central’s Maddie Miehle cracked a home run and three singles to power the Maroon Knights to a win over the Shamrocks.

The Knights’ Josie Frizzell struck out 20 and picked up the win.

Barnesville’s Ella Betts started the game for Barnesville, tagged with the loss though three Barnesville errors resulted in three unearned runs charged to her account.

Abby Johsnon pitched the final two frames for the Shamrocks, stringing out three and not allowing any hits or issuing any walks.

‘Rocks catcher Lily Welch hit a single and a triple and drove in three.

Barnesville 13, St. Clairsville 3

BARNESVILLE — Abby Johnson and Ella Betts each came through with big hits to help deliver a five-inning win to the Shamrocks against the visiting Red Devils.

Johnson cracked a double to finish with two RBI and Betts walloped a home run to finish with three. Maddy Tyson and Lily Welch each had two hits for Barnesville.

Keslee Berrara hit a home run for St. Clairsville, one of her three hits.

Peyton Loudin pitched the full game for Barnesville, striking out six.

Edison 7, Martins Ferry 6, 10 inn.

MARTINS FERRY — The Wildcats pushed across a run in the top of the 10th to end the Purple Riders’ 16-game winning streak.

Samantha Goddard blasted a three-run homer for Martins Ferry.

Weir 7, Harrison Central 3

CADIZ — The Red Riders scored three times in the third and four times in the fifth to defeat the Huskies.

Eliza Utt went the distance inside the circle with four strikeouts. She also tripled home a run.

Kara Blackburn and Bailee Smith had RBI singles for Harrison Central.

Shadyside 7, Monroe Central 2

Monroe Central 13, Shadyside 4

SHADYSIDE — The Seminoles and Tigers split their doubleheader on Wednesday.

Shadyside’s victory came from a complete game pitching performance from Ariana Saxton (5K, 1BB) and an offense that pounded out 11 hits.

Kamryn Parker, Kaylie Warnock, Brianna Harris, Reese Burkhart and Jourdan Walker each had two hits for Shadyside, with Walker and Harris each driving in a pair.

In Monroe Central’s victory, ‘Noles starter Karlie Haslam pitched the full seven innings with eight strikeouts, while leadoff batter Jadyn Miller collected two hits and three RBI.

Shadyside committed eight errors. Warnock finished with a double, a single and three RBI, while Parker tallied three hits.

River 12, Valley 3

PINE GROVE — The Pilots blasted out 19 hits in rolling past the host Lumberjills.

Kaylee Hagan singled and tripled to account for three RBI while Presley Kilburn also drove in three with a single and double. Ava Wohnhas singled twice and doubled to knock in two runs.

Magnolia 5, Cameron 3

NEW MARTINSVILLE — The Blue Eagles offense came alive late Wednesday to help them defeat the visiting Dragons.

Mallory McDiffitt fired nine strikeouts for Magnolia in a complete game victory. She also doubled and drove in three runners as a batter.

Skye Dobbs collected three hits for Cameron, while Lexi Bogard struck out 12 inside the circle.

Magnolia scored two in the fourth and three in the fifth to account for their total.

Harrison Central 12, Cambridge 8

CAMBRIDGE — The Huskies scored seven times in the top of the seventh inning to stun the Bobcats at City Park.

Kelcey Powers singled three times, doubled and drove in two runs for the winners, while Mikayla Pelegreen doubled in three more. Bailee Smith singled twice, doubled and knocked in a run.
