Ferry lands UL Jets, 16-0
MORRISTOWN — Martins Ferry broke out the bats once again Monday in a 16-0 blowout of host Union Local in high school softball action. The Purple Riders have now won eight straight after a season-opening loss to Wheeling Park.
Maddie Lucas struck out 13, allowed two hits and drove in two runs with a pair of singles and a home run. Giana Chirpas and Aveeri Hughes each added two singles and an RBI.
Alli Kellaway singled and doubled for both hits by the Jets.
Harrison Central 10, East Liverpool 0
CADIZ — The visiting Huskies scored in all six innings and rode the combined two-hit pitching of Emma Skinner and Makalya Pelegreen. The duo recorded nine strikeouts, with Pelegreen having seven.
Kelcey Powers drove in two runs with a pair of singles. Pelegreen doubled in two and Bailee Smith belted a two-run homer.
River 7, Monroe Central 5
HANNIBAL — Ava Wohnhas continued her strong season in the circle and at the plate on Monday against the Seminoles.
Wohnhas struck out 14, issued no walks and picked up the win for River. She also walloped a home run on her way to finishing with two RBI.
Catcher Kaylee Hagan also drove in two and hit a double.
Karlie Haslam pitched the full game for Monroe Central, striking out eight. ‘Noles catcher Jauna McElroy struck a home run of her own and had two RBI.
Either team committed two errors Monday. Monroe Central falls to 5-5 while River is now 3-7.
Barnesville 5, Buckeye Trail 2
OLD WASHINGTON — The Shamrocks scored four runs in the top of the seventh to pick up a road win Monday.
Peyton Loudin and Abby Johnson combined for the winning effort on the mound. Loudin started and pitched into the fourth, striking out four. Johnson earned the win in the statsheet and struck out four.
Johnson, Loudin and Payton Dudzik all tallied extra-base hits. Ella Betts drove in two.
Gwen McElwain pitched a complete game for Trail, striking out nine.
Bellaire 12, St. Clairsville 2
ST. JOE — The Big Reds continued to pound the softball as Alyson Vingia singled twice, homered and plated in six runs. Emilee Menendez also singled, homered and drove in two runs.

MARTINS FERRY — Billy Schumacher earned the win on the mound and had three singles and two RBI as the Jets defeated the Purple Riders. He fanned three and walked three.
Colby Carpenter picked up the save with three innings of relief. Brody gregor had an RBI double.
Kolson Ludoilph singled twice and knocked in three runs for Martins Ferry. Alex Reese had a two-run single.
Shadyside 2, Shenandoah
SHADYSIDE — Luke Crozier scattered five hits in going the distance as the Tigers blanked the visiting Zeps on Fleming Field. Crozier struck out four and walked a pair.
Cole Micker had an RBI double and Anthony Forgacs singled in the other tally. Damien Russell singled and doubled.
River 6, Monroe Central 0
HANNIBAL — The Pilots shut out their rivals on Monday and spotted four in the fourth inning for a home win.
Kaden Hunt had pitching duties for River and went the distance, striking out nine in earning the win.
Peyton Blue had a pair of hits and RBI for the Pilots. Lucas Dennis doubled and stole a bag.
Drew Landefeld knocked a double for the Seminoles. Monroe Central committed four errors Monday, River two.
Buckeye Local 10, Brooke 6
CONNORVILLE — Kaleb Stang struck out 10 and walked one in a route-going performance as the Panthers scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. He also singled, doubled and drove in a run.

ST. JOE — The Big Reds recorded 34 hits in the doubleheader sweep of the visiting Potters on the Bellaire Middle School diamond. Eight of them were home runs.
Addison Kovach belted two home runs to account for five RBI in the opener and Elisa Gillespie also homered twice.
Alyson Vingia plated six runs with a pair of roundtrippers and a single in the nightcap. Kovach homered and singled three times to drive in four runs. Rylie Porter picked up three RBI with a pair of singles and a home run.
