OHSFCA all-star football game set
MASSILLON — The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association North/South All-Star Football Games will be played on Saturday, April 26 at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. The top seniors have been selected by OHSFCA members.
Locally, only Steubenville’s Ky’leigh Hopkins, a 5-8, 180-pounder, has been selected to compete in the Division I-III game which begins at 11 a.m.
In addition, five local players are competing in the Division IV-VII game.
They are Martins Ferry’s 6-6, 220-pound Alex Reese; St. Clairsville’s 6-1; 185-pound Brady Schafer; St. Clairsville’s 6-3, 215-pound Mikey Balgo; Barnesville’s 6-1, 235-pound Marshall Meade and Steubenville Central’s 6-2, 250-pound Peyton Rauch.
The North/South game originated in 1946, making it the oldest running high school football All-Star Game. Numerous NFL Hall of Famers have played in the game, including Len Dawson (Alliance H.S./Kansas City); Roger Staubach (Purcell H.S./Dallas); Jack Lambert (Mantua H.S./Pittsburgh); Paul Warfield (Warren Harding H.S./Cleveland/Miami); Alan Page (Canton CC/Minnesota); and Larry Csonka (Stow-Munroe H.S./Miami).
Tickets are $10 for both games.
